Pipeline inspection cameras system core technologies: HD images and waterproof

In municipal underground pipeline network inspections, CCTV pipeline inspection cameras system have become important tools. Among the many technical points, HD images and waterproof are the basis of pipeline inspection equipment, it directly affect the inspection results accuracy and the NDT inspection equipment stability. This article will analyze these two core technologies.

Firstly, HD images

  1. Images sensor
HD images relies on CMOS or CCD sensors. CMOS sensors have low power consumption, economical cost, and excellent real-time imaging capabilities, which are very suitable for dynamic monitoring and long-term operation; while CCD sensors are more suitable for complex environment inspections, it require extremely high imaging quality due to their high light sensitivity and low noise. These sensors can capture cracks, sediments, and defects of the pipeline. The resolution is commonly 1080p or 1600P.
  2. Lens and optical zoom.
The zoom function of the lens is crucial, allowing inspectors to zoom in key areas according to the on-site situation and clearly identify details. In addition, the adjustable brightness design of the lens allows operators to manually adjust the brightness according to the light conditions in the pipeline, ensuring can obtain ideal imaging, regardless of strong light reflection or dark environment. The auto focus technology ensures that the camera can quickly capture clear images in complex environments, allowing inspectors to zoom in on key areas and clearly identify details according to the on-site situation.
  3. Dynamic range and low-light imaging.
Due to the weak light in the pipeline, the camera usually has a high dynamic range (HDR) function to enhance the details of bright and dark parts. In addition, infrared fill light technology is also widely use in all-black environment inspection. By emitting infrared light that is invisible to the naked eye and sensing the reflected light by the camera, can capture clear images under no light conditions, effectively improving the image quality.

Secondly, Waterproof design

Protection level (IP standard)

  1. Pipeline inspection cameras usually have a protection level of IP67 or IP68. Among them, IP67 can prevent dust from entering, maintain normal operation in underwater environment, up to 30 minutes and a maximum depth of 1 meter; while IP68 ensures that the pipe inspection system continues to operate at a depth of more than 1 meter. Our Jiutai's pipeline inspection equipment is continuously tested for 24 hours at a depth of ten meters outdoors, and the waterproof level is tested through a special airtight test.
  2. Sealing materials and structural design of the camera
The outer shell is made of corrosion-resistant materials (such as stainless steel or special alloys), and through double-layer O-rings, silicone sealing rings and other processes, block water vapor and dirt entering the internal circuit.
  3. Pressure balance system
In deep inspection environments, some high-end inspect cameras are also equipped with a pressure balance system to prevent equipment damage caused by changes in external water pressure. our company develope the pipeline inspection system will alarm to remind users when the air pressure is insufficient to avoid damage to the equipment.

Conclusion

HD imaging and waterproof design ensure the accuracy and durability of pipeline inspection cameras system in complex underground environments. With the continuous advancement of technology, future NDT inspection equipment will be smarter and more efficient, providing strong support for the safe operation of urban pipeline networks.
At present, with the increasing development of science and technology, pipeline inspection system have integrated many other technologies, such as thickness measurement, laser, one-button defogger, GPS positioning, real-time detection reports, etc. I believe that there will be more high-tech integration in the future to make non-destructive pipeline detection more convenient.
